Great Book!

Title: Hood

Author: Stephen R. Lawhead

I first saw this book in stores about a year ago and I was crazy about it. I had just finished reading his Song of Albion trilogy, so I was ready for more, but it has taken over a year before I was able to read it and I wish I had started it sooner because it is awesome!

The story is Lawhead's take on the Robin Hood legend which made me even more excited to read this. The story takes place in Wales and our folk hero is Bran the son of King of the land of Elfael. When Bran's father, the king, is killed in an ambush along with nearly all his warriors, the land of Elfael is overtaken and its citizens subjected to great oppression. Though Bran should be king, he has lost faith in what he believed and decides to flee instead. Through agony and adventure, aided by a ragtag group of colorful characters, his sense of justice grows, along with his commitment to leading the people of Elfael and his creative strategies for dealing with the enemy. Lawhead examines questions of faith from both sides of the conflict, so you see Welsh monks praying for deliverance and Norman rulers asserting their divine right to the land. The story's tone is uneven—by turns sweet, violent, and funny that will leave you anxious for the next installment.

The next book Scarlet is slated to hit shelves sometime at the beginning of September and I am ready for it. Are U?
My Rating: *****(5 stars)!

I just read this....

Title: Summer of Light

Author: W. Dale Cramer

Ok, I just finished this book and if you haven't ever read Cramer, I am sorry, but you are missing out on some GREAT books! I suggest you start with "Bad Ground" and then move on to "Levi's Will" and then this book. His past two books each won the Christy award so that proves he is a very good author. Cramer has the ability to draw you into a story with his very likable characters.

In this book "Summer of light", is about Mick who is a construction worker who gets into an accident and then is convinced by his wife to stay at home for awhile and take care of the kids. At first Mick is reluctant, but soon accepts it. The story then goes on how he takes care of the kids and the different situations he gets involved in. This is probably Cramer's lightest book he has written and I must say it is a pretty funny book. :) Go read it!

I loved this book! 5/5 stars

Woke me up!

Title: Waking Lazarus

Author: T.L. Hines

I read this book over my "break" of being sick, the last two weeks. I just plowed through it like a hot knife through butter.
The story is a cross between a thriller and a mystery. It takes place around a guy named Jude Allman who has died three times and came back to life each time. He doesn't understand it or why he has not died. Allman becomes a paranoid recluse in Red Lodge, Mont., where he works under an assumed name as a school janitor; His son, Nathan, lives with his mother elsewhere in town. As a string of child abductions begin, Jude finds he possesses supernatural powers that allow him to see into the lives of others. When Nathan is kidnapped, Jude finds his purpose and his faith. Hines handles the numerous flashbacks and switches in point of view well, and has a deft touch in knowing just how much information to give and how much to withhold. I was wrapped up in the story so tight like a bow on a present. You will be caught up in the mystery and suspense of who you think the kidnapper is and don't be fooled by what you read.
Take some time to catch up with a good suspense novel filled with interesting questions about purpose.
Read this book! 5/5 Stars

Book Review!

Relentless by Robin Parrish book 1 of the Domonion trilogy

I found out about this book as I was browsing the Internet on www.infuzemag.com. A great website by the way! I saw that the author Robin Parrish had really wrote this for his fans over a period of time in short stories posted on the Interent, but they wanted it to put into book form so Parrish got the book published and boy is it great! I finally pickd the book up a couple of weeks ago and jsut blazed through it like hot metal through wax or something like that.

The story starts off with a bang and continues that till the end. Grant Borrows steps off the bus one day and sees himself walking to work with his breafcase in hand and Grant's life is thrown into a frenzy. People after him right and left trying to kill him and even the reader is left in the dark which, I guess, part of the story. Questions filled my head as I read.....come on where are the answers! Typical of me always wanted the answers before the story is even over.

As the story progresses Grant meetes up with others who have also been "shifted". Grant soon reliezes he is the one the people have been waiting for to lead them. The others that Grant finds, including himself all have special powers. As the story goes on Grant tries to uncover the truth of his life and what he will discover will change his favorite color from red to blue, ok forget that last part, but if you want a good thrill ride, relentlless action, and great story. Than go find Robin Parrish's book before you become.................Fearless........book 2 out 07.

4.5/5 Stars! A good superhero book with great messages. Enjoy or Unjoy! :)
