Fear turned to joy

Last night I went on a bike ride around town. It was so nice out. As I was going around town, I went down this one street and there was a cute little red head girl outside with her father. When I rode past, she glanced up. Fear jumped to her face, I startled her. A moment later a smile spread across her face. She lifted her left hand and waved at me. I waved back. That was the highlight of the ride.

Blue Jays in the Backyard

I was sitting in a chair outside reading when I noticed two Blue Jays in the backyard. One was female, the other male. The male one was flying all around the yard looking for food while the female just sat around. It was funny to watch. He would climb all over our cherry tree and grab cherries and place them between his two claws and use his beak to poke the cherry and shallow the food. It was fascinating to watch. They seemed to chew their food at alarming rate.

One time the male Blue Jay flew away and the female just chilled on the fence for around 5 minutes just sitting there minding her own business. Then all of the sudden the male Blue Jay would start squawking from somewhere and the female would fly off and go looking for him. Another time the male was sitting on the fence eating a cherry and the female was on the ground squawking up at him.

They seemed to not have a care in the world. They would just do there job because it needed to be done. One went and searched for food the other stayed home and both learned to communicate with each other.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." - Matthew 10:29-31

Some Ol' Story

This past Saturday night, something terrible happened at our apartment in Ashland. It got busted into. Weird huh?

Yep, you heard it right our little home away from home was burglarized. It happened when none of us were, thankfully, for some of us that is. Steve wished he was there to take on the guys, but I said that we would probably have to fill out a murder report instead of loss of possession report.

We didn't find out until Sunday evening that the report had actual happened. Mrs. Pimentel, Davy's mom called him on his cell and told him that some Detective called saying there was a break in at our apartment. Immediately all three of us were thinking if we had left anything really valuable down there. Steve said no, I said maybe, and Davy said not really either. I had left practically all my cd's and dvd's down there and thought they were a goner immediately. Davy had his computer monitor, a guitar, and some other game consoles and video games.

The Detective lady told us that the door had had significant damage done to it.

Then this morning the three of piled into Steve's very tight and uncomfortable car and drove down to the apartment. Well when we got there we were all kind of excited. We were like "wow this is just like CSI." So when got to the front door I was expecting to see the door just hanging off the hinges with big dents on it, but the door looked almost the same as when we had left it. Only around the locks did it look like it had been dented in. So after opening it we went and looked around. I was expecting the place to ransacked(man!, I have been watching way to many spy movies!), but again the place looked completely normal. I quickly dodged, skipped, and trotted to my room in fearful desperation. I had been having nightmares about this all night last night. Coming to the apartment and finding it tared completely apart in a million pieces and all my stuff gone. But when I arrived at my door I noticed nothing missing. My cd's hadn't left, my dvd's where right were I left them. Interesting, I thought. The only thing that was a little out of place was that they had open one of draws by my bed and didn't take anything. I felt relieved! Whew! Then I went to Steve's room and looked around. He kept ranting and raving about how these crooks are really retarded. Nothing was missing from his room, they had just opened abunch of his draws and moved his mattress to look under it for any loose money. They didn't even take his 50 dollar gift certificate to the SOU bookstore that was in plain site on his dresser. While he kept closing draws I told him he should not do that because he may be messing up fingerprints, oh well. Then I checked out Davy's room and looked around. He came to me and pointed the only thing he saw missing was a big bin that had lots of video games and game consoles that was gone and figured that all of it was worth to around 3 or 4 hundred dollars, but that was all they had took.

After this we went to office to see what they do in these situations. And like always, no one was in the office. So I had to call the lady, who was cleaning somewhere, to come down to the office. When she came down we reported what had happened. She didn't seem too surprised. We told her we thought the door needed a little work and asked about were the police station was. She didn't know.

So we left the apartment and went downtown in search of the fire department. We found that and thought it was really cool to go into a fire department. So we went in there and asked for directions to the police department. The lady gave them to us, we thought. So we got back again in this really small car, that Steve likes to call a "hot rod" and drove around for alot longer than it should have taken to find the police station. So we went in and asked about if we had to fill our a report of missing and whether there was anything we could do and whether or not Steve was a terrorist or not. Ok, not really, but we sat around there for pretty much nothing. Davy figured it would take to long to report his missing items so he said forget it. So we went back to apartment and gather up the rest of our valuables and went back home.

All of us think it was the guys the next door who did it, but we don't really know. Our place is kind of secluded, so it would be kind of hard to find it.

Anyway the lesson that God is teaching me in this incident is to fight fire with fire! So the three of planned to bust into the guys next door next Saturday! HAHAHA! no, we arn't.

Material goods aren't forever. Lets lay up our treasure in Heaven were robbery can't get it, ok? ok!

I am tired now...hope this makes cents.

oh, BTW, Mrs. Sommerfeld was worried that the silver ware got stolen, I hope you weren't either. :)

Southside of Town

Well whats going on down here?

Classes are going well. So far I think I like computer science the best, then music, then math and physics. In computer science we doing some very basic programing which is fun to design stuff and see the work you do come about.

In music class we are going to the ordinary songs of the mass in the catholic church. Very interesting. Such as the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei. We had to listen to these songs and I liked the Gloria and Sanctus the best.

In Math we are learning about Statistics. Fun! Pretty straight forward. My teacher is really slow on some things, but really fast on others and it seems like most of the class knows more than he does about certain subjects.

In physics we have just been assigned to our teams for our mock hearing that we are going to do. We are doing a HICCUP(Hypothetical Integrated Combined Cycle Utility Power Plant). Some of the teams our Labor, Environmentalist, Community...etc. My team is the Citing Council and we get to decide if we want to build this power plant or axe it. Everyone has to write a paper on for or against certain Issues in their certain group. Some of the Issues are like Need for electricity, Air quality, Water supply, Land use....etc. This should be interesting.

Lets see, living in Ashland....hmmm....pretty good. The town is pretty small. I only know one side of the town. Uh, Steve and Davy are fun to live with. We are not at each others throats.................yet. This past week we ate some hamburgers, burritos(I made them!!!), and pizza together. Oh yeah, we had some green flaky things too. :) I saw Brian this morning before music class, so it is cool to see a familiar face in the crowd. Also Stephen Mader is in my Math class.

Well I guess there is nothing else to report....thanks for your prayers!
How about an "apod"?

XIVth

I have been "busy" getting ready to live down in Ashland. Packing up things, buying things, moving things, unloading things. etc. I got to see my aparmetn for the first time on Wednesday and it looks pretty good. A nice fit for us three.

Wednesday was my sister's birthday. she turned 17! So this a belated happy Birthday Molly! I said it in person already. It was fun! We watched The Ulimate Gift which was good/pretty good. Played a game, ate some cake and ice cream. Saturday is my mom's birthday. Yipee! More food and ice cream.

I am right listening to music by this composer, Justin Durban. He writes his own music and divides into different styles, like epic, drama, action, etc. He is pretty good and he lets you download it. Very neat!

I am right now reading a book by Tim Downs called Head Game about how one of this guy's friends commits suicide and he doesn't know why? I just started it and it is pretty cool.

Tommorrow is Wash for life that i am going to go to and express my skills as an automoble cleaner. Hopefully someone can wash my car too.

And now a random picture to send you on your way this Friday, a day of Serenity!

See the six rainbows! :)

Lightning Crashes!

This is a picture I took last night during the really cool thunder storm! I was out there for about 45 minutes waiting for a good flash and when I thought it was over I would put the camera away. Then all of a sudden a bright flash would happen....and I would be like take a picture, take a picture! That happened a couple of times. Oh well, this is the best picture I took.

My Kraving!

I had this craving tonight that started almost as soon as I got to astronomy class.

I was craving these yogurt covered pretzels which makes the Sun seem to shine a little brighter, the spring in one's step higher, the twinkle in one's eye shine that much clearer. I had to have these pretzels.
So as soon as break rolled around in astronomy class I was out the door and down to the vending machine in a flat five parsecs. As I scanned the vending machine my eyes beheld the bag of scrumpish delight. Pure joy filled me! My mouth started to water, my eyes became crossed eyed, my nose could smell those pretzels through the machine. I reached into my pocket frantically searching for my change....where is it? where is it? Finally, I could feel that soft copper in my hand. I smile spread across my face. :)=like this! As I moved my hand from my pocket, which contained 4 crisp quarters, something caught my eye. My breath went from my mouth, my fingers started to shake, all life was draining....the vending machine was out of order! :( I was crushed, shaken to my core. My craving was starting to take over me, but I maintained control and decided I didn't need those pretzels tonight anyway. So I just turned my back and I left that place behind. So it was a happy end to the story after all. I left that place feeling satisfied I had overcome the machine. Yes!

Oh, by the way, on the way home from astronomy class I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought some pop tarts! I had to seal my victory with a celebration. :)

I am sitting here in the computer lab right working on a presentation for my computer class about Ultimate Frisbee. Kind of fun! I got my headphones too and I am listening to a band called "Disciple" singing right this moment ...."carry me on". I've got about 9 slides done of my PP presentation and I need one more and then I will be finished...yeah! Then in about 20 mintues I will be sitting in Astronmy class.

I'm hungry.

"Its our time the wait is over"

I just found a hair on m desk....weird.

Hey it was a nice day out! I hope you all got to take a walk on one of those fluffy clouds!

Remember the chicken came first....I think

Do you know what time it is??

Here it is......10:00pm, no later.....no less.

The stillness in the kitchen is like sitting in a raft on the calm part of the Rouge River. I hear the steady hum of the computer trying to keep up with m.....y.......t....y.....p...i....n...g. I see the darkness of the outside world sealing this evening to a close. I feel the cool breeze of the night air coming in through the screen door behind me. Ahhhh.....these great spring days.

Here are some random pictures from our puppet performance last Wednesday:

As you can see we worked hard. If you can guess what the picture is in the middle you win a pat on the back. I think it looks kind of cool, but you may all think it is really silly. I guess I should tell you what where we went for this last performance....we went to this Baptist church in Medford and performed for their club there. Went pretty good despite that we got unplugged halfway through it. Oh well...made for some excitement.
So it seems like this school term and work schedule is probably the most "engaging". Working 30 hours a week (I wish I could work more!) and taking 18 credits...boy things just couldn't be better....
Well I need to rest these eyes, so TTfn.

Have you ever noticed?

I find them everywhere....

It seems like where every I look at see God's hand at work in the little things. Everything happens for a reason. It happen just the other day as I was going to school. I went into the Library at the College to do some work before class started and after walking into the building I noticed that all the computers were being used so I decided to make a loop of the Library(for no apparent reason) and head out. As I was making the loop I saw this lady(I assumed she worked at the Library) trying to put a piece of cardboard on the wall that was behind some file cabinets. I could see she was struggling because she could not reach over the file cabinets very well, I decided to just leave her to her job, but as I passed I thought.....you know she needs some help. So I offered her my services, she was much obliged. So I stood on top of a stool and leaned over the top of the file cabinets and was able to pin up this cardboard poster thing. I think she thought I was super tall because she asked "How tall are you", I sore of shrugged and responded, "I am just six feet". She thanked me for her work and I left. I thank God that he used me even if it was just a small thing.

A couple of days ago another incident like this happened....

This time I was at work and my boss(Jason) came up to Steve and I and asked us if we had a certain piece of plastic somewhere, which he needed. I remember that we had threw away a ton of these small pieces about three months ago because we never used them, but I remeber that we had saved one box or so I thought. So we pointed out to Jason where we thought the pieces where supposed to be, but we found out that the pieces were not there at all and we had somehow gotten rid of them all, but we found one little piece on the ground somewhere for him....ok hold this thought....

About 3 months ago Steve and I were out in the warehouse and Steve was trying to get this box down from a pallet that was about 12 feet and he could not lift it because it was super heavy. I was on the ground giving him great advice like "hurry up!" and "lift it, weakling". Finally, Steve just had enough strength to lift the box a little bit over this bar thing that was held it tight and the box fell the rest of the way and side of the box exploded. When this happened tiny little plastic pieces went everywhere. After Steve and I contained ourselves from laughing we swept up most of pieces and took the rest of the box inside. I don't really remember why we wanted the box, but that is beside the point.

Ok, back to the present so we could not find for Jason the little plastic pieces(saddles) he desired, but a little later on that day, out in the warehouse, I see Jason on the ground picking up small little pieces. I asked him what he was doing and he said he had found some saddles on the ground over in this certain spot. So I hear him digging over there for awhile and soon he comes over and shows me that he had a found enough saddles to fill a bin. Then it hits me. That was the same place that the box had exploded and the saddles went everywhere. I had assumed that we had swept up all the these saddles, but apparently some had got under some pallets that were on the ground and we didn't see them. All and all, Jason found the pieces he needed.

So in review, (3 months ago) Steve and I broke a box open that contained these saddles and we thought we had cleaned all of the up, but didn't. Flash forward to the present and Jason asked for some saddles and we thought we had a whole box of them, but we didn't. In the end Jason finds some saddles right where the box exploded three months later. Jason and I both agreed it was meant to happen.

I just thought these two incidents were cool. Because even the little things have meaning. I see things like this almost all the time and I don't really look out for them, but they are just there.

"In his heart a man plans his course,
but the LORD determines his steps".
Proverbs 16:9

So, have you noticed things like this?

Howdy

Hello everyone!

Sorry I have been kind of lazy with posting and all that. Nothing much has been going on in my life. Just doing school and work.

On Monday my dad and I went down to Medford for some man time and saw "Letters from Iwo Jima", a WWII movie about the Japanese side of the battle of Iwo Jima. It was an excellent movie that was great in all parts of movie making. The main central theme of the movie was that Americans and Japanese are not that much different from each and both sides of the war held real people who had real lives with real families. Also another theme that came out is that we should love are enemies. Probably one if not the best war movie I have ever seen.

In school I have a chemistry test tomorrow. 2night my mom helped me study and that was long and tiring. Right now the rest of the family is watching a episode from "The Walton's", some extremely old show which down right hilarious in Jeremy's and my eyes! Molly and mom don't think that it is supposed to be funny.

At work today I was working around the warehouse and a little bit outside in the rain and I saw that a helicopter kept flying over and around this one site. The helicopter looked like one those that you see on the Coast Guard rescue team thing. After awhile the copter left, but it was kind of weird.

I can't believe it is already February! Where has the time gone?

Take it easy everyone..........
